GREEN TECHNOLOGIES LTD and the Dept. of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras, were nominated by the newspaper Peloponnese, for Person of the Year 2017 as a Team/Collaboration in the field of Management/Concept. The company Green Technologies Ltd. Nadia Zafiris in collaboration with the Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering and Environmental Technology of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras, with Associate Professor Michael Kornaros as Scientific Coordinator, have developed within the framework of the European Project H2020 - Waste4Think, a pilot anaerobic digestion unit, which will operate in the premises of a kindergarten, will be fed with used diapers and food waste for the production of gaseous biofuels (hydrogen, methane) in order to partially cover the energy needs of the kindergarten. The innovative technology being developed is being presented for the first time at a global level and can be used by institutions, hospitals and municipalities.
